These are typically complex cases involving consumer electronics or industrial equipment. Plaintiffs allege defective design or manufacture, poorly prepared instructions, or failure to provide adequate warning. Defendants may assert that the product has been abused or misused. I can help sort out the issues through incident reconstruction and analysis, product testing, and design review.
Within the area of consumer electronics, I have particularly extensive experience in cases where hearing injury is alleged. The injuries may be variously referred to as Traumatic Hearing Injury, Acoustic Trauma, Noise Induced Hearing Loss, or Acoustic Shock. My doctoral research at M.I.T. examined the human auditory system, and I can provide broad insight into the issues presented when hearing injury is alleged.
These cases may involve allegations that an electronic product fails to meet its specfications, that manufacturing yield is low, that reliability is poor, or that warranties are breached. I assist with contract interpretation, product testing, and design review.
